Mountain Move! Math & Science for Girls presented by Tonya Pugh

 

This workshop is designed to encourage girls to participate in science and technology that foster a love for problem solving and making difference in their community.

Tonya Pugh has been teaching for 13 years. She is certified P-5 Early Childhood , 4-8th Middle Grades Social Sciences , K-5 Science endorsed and certified P-12 in Educational Leadership.  She has served on and chaired several science committees for Clayton County Public Schools. She was named Kemp Primary’s 2012 Teacher of the Year. She has also been named a finalist for the prestigious Presidential Award for Excellence in Math and Science Teaching 2012 for Georgia. 

 

 

Paige Martin Books & Art Doll Making Workshop presented by Paige Martin

 

Students will  learn a history of Black Doll Making, view the Color of Humanity™ Dolls and accessories, and construct their own dolls supplied by Paige Martin Books & Art.

Paige Martin has taught arts enrichment programs for 15 years. Martin is a writer and visual artist. “Daniel Keep Dreaming” is her first self-published children’s book and her visual art has been displayed at the Joint in Atlantic Station and Vinings, Wellspring Chiropractic, and upscale model homes in the Atlanta area. She enjoys working with acrylic paints, oil pastels, and charcoal, on canvas and wood and clay. Some of her student’s pieces have been displayed at the Study Hall at Emmaus House, St. Paul Leadership Academy, Parks Middle School and The City of Atlanta Recreation Centers.  She has created the Color of Humanity™ Dolls and Accessories which are handmade polymer clay dolls that were created to bridge all cultures thus promoting that humanity, pure kindness, and benevolence are attributes of the human race which transcends ethnicities and cultures.

2 Cute 2 Fight presented by Lieutenant Nicole Rabel, CCPD

 

This workshop teaches girls strategies for dealing with anger management and ways to avoid conflict in school and community. The workshop will educate and raise awareness among participants about the prevention of violence among adolescent girls. The audience will develop strategies to address primary prevention of violence in their schools and communities. 

 

 

Increasing Self Esteem presented by Sharon Lee

 

Feeling good about who you are -- that is, having a healthy amount of self-esteem and self-confidence -- is one of those things that will help make your life happier and more successful. Having confidence in yourself and your abilities goes a long way whether you're facing a tough decision, adapting to a new situation or standing up against peer pressure. This session is designed to provide some tips on how to build your self-esteem.

 

 

 

High School Workshops

 

“I CHANGED OR TRANSFORMED MY LIFE: HOW DO YOU MEASURE?”

 Presented by Trimona B. Lomax, Personal Trainer

 

“I CHANGED  OR TRANSFORMED  MY LIFE: HOW DO YOU MEASURE?”  is designed to help YOU help yourself.  Young ladies will encounter activities that will allow them to assess their current level of fitness: physical activity readiness and health questionnaire, body assessment and training assessment. Many health benefits are associated with knowledge and regular exercise.  We will explore first steps in changing and transforming your existence to a salubrious lifestyle.

 

College Prep Seminar by  Doretha White

 

 In this workshop, participants will walk through the college application process, recognize the major differences between high school and college life, identify his/her learning styles and related strategies to maximize the college experience,  create a personal budget and set short and long term financial goals and learn strategies for building good credit and avoiding credit problems, and more. 

 

 

Workshops for Mothers & Adults

 

“Mothers Be Good To Your Daughters” Anger Management                                                                            Presented by Michelle Graves and Carolyn Marshall

This speech will strengthen mother and daughter relationships through anger management techniques and coping strategies.

Ms. Michelle Graves is originally from the coastal area of Georgia. Ms. Graves obtained a bachelor’s degree at Southern Illinois University in 1986.  In 1991, Graves obtained her master’s degree in social work at Clark Atlanta’s Whitney M. Young school of Social Work.  Ms. Graves is a certified anger management specialist. She has worked with families and children in metro Atlanta for over twenty five years.  

 

Mrs. Carolyn Marshall is a licensed clinical social worker originally from South Georgia. She has worked in clinical settings for the last 20 years and with children the last 14 years with Clayton County G.N.E.T.S. program. She is married with a blended family of three children, active in church and the community. She has developed the Sixella Consultants, LLC which is a family counseling program.

 

 

Girls, Literacy & Colleges by Dr. Genola Johnson

 This workshop will discuss how to help your child increase her reading skills. In addition, Dr. Johnson will help parents learn where to locate high school scholarships, dual enrollment and other options for paying your child’s secondary education.  Dr. Genola Johnson has over 22 years in education. She’s taught elementary, middle school, high school and a high school administrator as well as teaching overseas. She owns Johnson & Associates Consulting Firm, LLC which assist organizations acquire funding for the various programs they sponsor. She’s a blogger, author, business start-up coach, mother and wife.
